“Mind the Gap” – the Workforce and Skills Gap

Do you have the right people in place to ensure your business plans stay on track?

“Mind the gap” is a familiar warning phrase for rail passengers when crossing the gap between the train door and the station platform but minding the workforce gap is critical to delivering rail service that is safe, secure, comfortable, reliable and punctual.

With more than 50 million customer journeys travelled each year, Queensland Rail is dedicated to improving its customer experience and has a large program of works to support this. This includes upgrade and renovation projects to the network and stations, maintaining existing equipment, as well as introducing new commuter timetables to meet increasing demand.

To make all this happen, Queensland Rail employs a diverse range of roles, including engineers, technical and trades. But this talent is not always readily available. Tremendous effort goes into workforce planning to drive recruiting, skills development and training, and guided career paths to close workforce gaps and ensure successful delivery of projects and services.

Please join us to hear from Philippa Johnston and Trachelle Hart as they discuss their experiences in agile and strategic workforce planning for engineering, technical and trades roles, and the implications of it on major infrastructure and capital projects, as well as financial and compliance.

In this webinar, you’ll learn how your organisation can:

  • Drive workforce planning for your critical roles,
  • Engage with your business stakeholders, and
  • Make workforce plans actionable.
