Scroll on multiple grids at the time

Description:

When Grids on a dashboard show the same module, or maybe even the same list, there should be an option for setting these grids to be fully synchronised which would allow a user the option to scroll on one of the grids and all fully synchronised selected grids will also scroll.

Description:

The ability to synchronize the scrolling between two or more modules placed in a dashboard, especially thosesharing the same dimension in columns.

Example of enhancement:

  • 这将允许我们两个模块by side and while scrolling one, the other scrolls at the same time.
  • When multiple modules are used in one dashboard and they share the same dimension list in column, it would be convenient to have the scrollbar synchronized between them which ensures that the range of columns displayed is the same for each of them.

Benefit/impact:

  • We have a couple modules placed in a dashboard adjacent to one another and would like to be able to link the two together such that when one is scrolled, the other moves as well, accordingly. This would make it easier to track information between the modules even when one is scrolled.
  • Concretely, we are using two modules within one dashboard in order to be able to display text and figures data on the same page. The issue is that the scrollbar is not synchronized between the two tables which makes the possibility to input data at the wrong column really likely.

Hi,

Has there been an update to this?

The ability for us to build out an output for end users where they are able to see time dependent and independent information on a dashboard where the dimensions are exactly the same, however time and versions settings are different.

I've seen a fair few use cases where users want the ability to see all members of their dimensions and then complete a plan over time for them, but need to reference back to non time based attributes. From a UX perspective it means they have to scroll around the screen to find the 2 modules that hold the attributes and plan to link it together... or worse yet they use a spreadsheet on a separate screen to look at what they need!

See below for example:

I also like the idea of having this sort of control, but I'd want to be sure that the end user has the ability to clearly/easily toggle the syncing.

Implementation solely with respect to time would be a significant value add, but I could also see wanting to sync to almost any other high-cardinality line item or row ID in the right application.

Hello,

Is there any update regarding this feature?

Scrolling within a page in the NUX scrolls down the board or within the module. There are cases where a user may want to run scenario planning (for example) and view data and perform actions across a same initial list but not with the same dimensions. Currently if i had a Project list by time to view my information and I then wanted to choose to include the project in my forecast (across all months and years, not just for one year) having separate modules can make this a pain. If the modules are side by side sharing the Project dimension, one has time while the other is boolean formatted and does not. This would mean you have to either scroll both and make sure they align OR have the checkbox also dimensioned by time in which case checking the box would require multiple checks (across years). If there was a way to simultaneously scroll across modules (when a user wants to) that would be useful.

Looking for update on this status.

这里提供一个更新。

We have done a lot of investigation on this topic in the past, we collected examples layouts and discussed at length with customers, and then investigated within Anaplan R&D to find a solution that accommodates all the different capabilities that would be needed - e.g. Scrolling vertically, Scrolling horizontally, Filtering, Sorting, Find etc etc. The estimated work was LARGE, and not something we were able to prioritise at the time.

Since then we have launched our new UX, and it is the new standard for building experiences on Anaplan for Planning and Analysis.

There are many other requests on the backlog to continue to enhance/improve the experience, I'm tagging this as "Your support needed". If we see more votes on this it will help get this reviewed and pulled in the Roadmap sooner.

Thanks, Simon

@AnaplanIdeasAny status or update on this feature? There are quite a few dashboarding use cases where this could be extremely handy.

Use case:

I have a page with two grids published. First grid contains Monthly CY data. Second grid is annual forecast for future years (time scale - Year).

The two grids can be synchronized by global page selector to limit the visible section. But it will not synchronise the scroll bar and if the lists are too long I will have to match the lists manually to review the .

My proposal is to add a toggle in Grid settings which will provide ability to scroll the selected grids.

I came here to suggest the same idea. In my case, I have 2 modules in the NUX side by side. Both have the time dimension across columns and would be nice to be able to link the scroll bars for these 2 modules, so when I scroll to the right on either of the modules, the other will follow:

AlejandroGomez_0-1632743995804.png

In other words, would be great to be able to avoid this scenario: the time dimension gets disconnected - showing different months on each module -

AlejandroGomez_1-1632744170209.png

I believe that original@w_smythe's e request is the same, but using a the same list across rows in two modules, so they remain aligned when scrolling vertically instead of horizontally as is my example.

Cheers,

Alex

You have my vote. This would be a really helpful enhancement.

Yes please - this will help in two scenarios:

  1. This will allow us to display for example a lists code in the first column, and then time in the remaining columns without using the awkward show/hide functionality that doesn't work when the time ranges move forward:whitby_0-1643896248521.png

  2. Where we have two inputs that should be linked e.g. the first input says the type of an adjustment and the second the amount by month.

I see it is actually linked to this request which is on the roadmap:Scroll on multiple grids at the time - Anaplan Community

These ideas have been merged together. We are currently exploring adding an end user option in the UX to enable users to link two grids to scroll in sync. We will share more updates here as we progress.
