The Anaplan add-ins for Microsoft Office are evolving with a lot of focus on speed, flexibility and robustness. As we innovate and expand the reach of Anaplan, the older versions will sunset so that our customers can adopt the newer versions and leverage new capabilities and enhanced performance.

Excel v3.3

What's new?

The Excel add-in version 3.3 enables you to create a read-write connection between the add-in and your Anaplan models. This means that you can edit data in Excel and useSend and refreshto send the changes to Anaplan.

What's happening with the old versions of the Excel add-in?

  • The Excel add-ins v2.6 and v3.0 of will become unusable from31 May 2020 (deprecation deadline):from this date, at any point and without notice, the add-in will stop working and the customer will not be able to log in to the add-in and refresh their data.

You need to upgrade to the latest version of the add-in (v3.3, which can be downloadedhere) before the deprecation deadline.

How do I upgrade to the new version?

If you are using Excel add-in v3.0

  1. Uninstall Excel add-in v3.0 following standard software uninstallation processes. Please note that depending on your corporate software policy, this may need to be done by your IT department.
  2. Download Excel add-in v3.3hereon Anapedia and install the add-in. Please note that depending on your corporate software policy, this may need to be done by your IT department.
  3. Take a copy of your workbook. The add-in is not backwards compatible. Once you open your workbook in Excel add-in v3.3, you will not be able to open it again in Excel add-in v3.0.
  4. Open the copy and refresh it with Excel add-in v3.3.
  5. Check that everything has updated correctly and save your copy. Alternatively, you can also refresh your data in your initial workbook now that it is safe to do so.

The following may impact you:

  • Customers upgrading from Excel add-in v3.0 will experience a row shift due to the move of the "last refresh date" from the B1 cell to the A1 cell. This will be seamless if the Anaplan data is not referenced by any formula. If Anaplan data is referenced in a single workbook, the formulae will automatically remap to the new shifted cells when the workbook is refreshed using Excel add-in v3.3. If Anaplan data is referenced in multiple workbooks, the formulae will automatically remap to the new shifted cells only if all workbooks are open when the refresh is performed using Excel add-in v3.3.
  • All customers whose users are on different versions (any version: v2.6, v3.0, v3.1, v3.2, v3.3) of the add-in may face thisknown issueof file being corrupted when refreshed on older versions. Two workarounds are provided.
  • Customers upgrading from Excel add-in v3.0 may be unable to connect to large saved views bigger than 1 million cells. Thisknown issuehas a workaround and a fix will be available in the next version of the add-in (Excel add-in v3.4, targeted for release in March)

In all cases, if you are facing issues with the upgrade, please contactAnaplan Support atsupport@anaplan.com.

If you are using Excel add-in v2.6

A migration of your workbooks is required. You will have to manually rebuild all the connections: a step-by-step guide and video to do this, as well as a model to estimate the amount of work required, are available on thisCommunity post.
