Today we're highlighting our User Groups Program Manager, Aaron White!

Whatdo you do at Anaplan?AaronWhite2-blog.png

My role on the Community team is the User Groups Program Manager. I get to help create opportunities for Anaplanners around the world to meet both online and in-person to elevate their experiences with Anaplan and Connected Planning in general. We have dozens ofCommunity discussion boards, offline meetups, and virtual livestream events throughout the year, all geared toward bringing people together to learn and exchange ideas.

What is your planning style?

I am a flexible planner. I once performed regularly with a traveling improv comedy group, which helped shape my planning style in a big way. Improv relies on understanding a set of established frameworks and then being flexible within them to achieve a desired outcome (given the resources and options available within the framework). I’ve applied these principles in all areas of life, learning to set definite goals and operating parameters for plans and projects while remaining agile in choosing courses of action and responding to changing circumstances.

Do you have any favorite planning tips?

The test of a good plan isn’t whether it accounts for every possibility or even whether it is ultimately successful (there are many roads to most goals). The test is whether the plan is adaptable. Somethingalwayschanges, andhowwe respond to the unexpected is critical for the eventual success and well-being of our plans, our goals, and ourselves. A maxim I’ve always carried from a previous mentor is, “No matter what happens, always be cheerful or flexible—and whenever possible be both!”

More from Community:

AaronWhite1-blog.pngFavorite aspect of working at Anaplan and your job:

I feel blessed to work at a company that values its internal culture and supports its employees. Even more, the Community team members I work with are some of the smartest and most creative people I’ve ever worked alongside. I genuinely enjoy coming to work every day!

社区对你意味着什么?

There’s an old proverb that says a cord of three strands is not easily broken. The idea is that we are always stronger together than we are individually. This is the heart of community! Each of us is better off when we exchange good ideas, support each other, and learn from our diverse backgrounds. This is true in communities of any kind, and it’s why the Anaplan Community exists.

What should users expect from the Anaplan Community?

We have a very supportive community with members from all levels of experience with Anaplan. People are respectful and helpful—there are no bad questions, and answers usually arrive quickly! I love that we have so many different ways to learn and interact. If you’re new, check out ourTopicsandProgramsareas, or reach out to us atcommunity@anaplan.com—we’re always here to help you get plugged in and find your way around!
